An illustrated photographic personal journey through Greek mythology.
A native of Crete, from the tiny village of Drakona, Eva has a passion for Greek Mythology and its psychological and spiritual relationship with personal identity and the self.
By the age of 6, Eva was cognizant with all of the Greek myths. Myths about the origin of the world, myths about Gods or semi-Gods, Zeus, Kronos, Gaia, Eros, Sirens, Nereids, Muses, Nymphs, Mnemosyne, Artemis, Orpheus, Persephone and the Hades, Ulysses, Athena and the Olive Tree, Pandora's box, Prometheus. How have these stories shaped our culture and informed our understanding of the individual? With whom do we identify? What are our personal myths?
Stories of Gods, Goddesses and Heroes intermix with the subconscious in a creative way and have inspired Eva to develop a personal photography project, which will act as a prompter for this lively and inclusive talk.
The myth is a way to explain something more complicated. Or as Joseph Campbell said: "Myths are public dreams; dreams are private myths."
Eva has created her own workshops on Subjective Photography and autobiographical storytelling and delivers them internationally. In 2013 she was invited from ISSP, as one of the 6 international experts, to deliver a workshop as part of the Contemporary Self Portrait Project. Her teaching includes elements of Art Therapy.
